SUMMARY:Napa for Peace in Palestine: Guest Speaker Hedab Tarifi
DESCRIPTION:Tonight\, our guest speaker is Hedab Tarifi\, who was born in Gaza\, Palestine and lived in Kuwait until after the first Gulf War\, when she moved to Los Angeles. Hedab has been active in the Muslim and Interfaith communities in Southern California since 1994\, working on building bridges and bringing people together. She served on the board of several Muslim non-profit organizations\, including the New Horizon School Los Angeles\, Shura Council of Southern California\, and Islamic Networks Group. She was elected to be the first Chairwoman of both the Muslim Public Affairs Council in 2007 and the Islamic Center of Southern California in 2016. Hedab also served on the boards of several interfaith groups/organizations such as University Religious Conference at UCLA\, the Los Angeles Council of Religious Leaders\, and the Academy of Judaic\, Christian and Islamic Studies. Hedab worked as an IM Program Manager at General Electric Energy for 20 years. She is now an IT Consultant & Financial Coach. Since October 2023\, Hedab focused her work and energy on bringing a ceasefire and a permanent peace for her family and people in Gaza.

Masked federal agents are teargassing babies and pastors\, seizing our neighbors and shipping them off to foreign torture prisons\, and killing innocent people. \nOn Wednesday\, January 7th\, an American citizen\, Renee Nicole Good\, was killed by ICE in Minneapolis. Renee wasn’t the first victim of ICE — thirty-two people reportedly died in ICE custody last year — and the violence will only continue to escalate if we don’t show up together and stand up to ICE. Tell the Trump administration\, Congress\, all lawmakers\, and corporations: We need to take action NOW to get ICE out of our communities for good. \n  \n
