DON’T STOP AT NO KINGS!

FIND YOUR NEXT ACTION:

1. GET ACTIVE IN NAPA:

• Visit the local organizations tabling today. Follow them on social media. Get involved!

2. GET TRAINED FOR THE MIDTERM ELECTIONS:

• Sign up for Rock the Congress Napa Valley April 11 full-day civic engagement training.

3. PROTEST:

• Look out for local protests regularly and attend with a sign that voices your concerns.
• Napa Takes Action holds multiple local protests weekly!
• Join the Napa Singing Resistance!

4. BOYCOTT AND STRIKE: 

• Support major organized boycotts like Target and Home Depot.
• Vote with your money: don’t shop at businesses that support authoritarian leadership.
• Join the May Day nationwide boycott May 1^st: No work, no school, no shopping.
• Prepare for a nationwide general strike in the event November elections are canceled or federalized.

5. LOOK OUT FOR YOUR NEIGHBORS:

• Sign up for legal observer training with North Bay Rapid Response Network.

6. VOTE:

• Register to vote! Already registered? Make sure yours is up to date!
• Vote in all elections including primaries! May 18 registration deadline for primaries.
• Encourage and help family, friends, and neighbors to do the same!

7. SUPPORT KEY CAMPAIGNS:

• Volunteer to send postcards, make calls, or canvass for certain candidates in key districts. See: Indivisible Napa, Napa Valley Democrats, or movements you support.

8. FIGHT VOTER SUPPRESSION:

• Sign up to be a poll watcher, poll worker, ballot curer, help with voter registration, etc.

9. SPREAD THE WORD:

• Pick 3 people and share these action opportunities with them!

In addition to joining our community for a Friday Rally in Napa, 4-5pm, January 23rd, on the corner of Soscol Ave and Third Street, consider writing your elected representatives and writing also corporations that have allowed ICE to enter their businesses:

Demand corporations stand with us and stand up to ICE

Join organizers in Minnesota and national partners to pressure corporations including Target, Hilton, Enterprise, Home Depot, and Delta to show up for our communities and stand up to ICE. Call or email each corporation to demand they take action to rein ICE out of our communities NOW.

Our demands include:

1. Publicly call for an immediate end to the ICE “surge” into MN and for ICE to leave the state;
2. The officer who killed Renee Good must be held legally accountable. Demand a legitimate investigation with state involvement.
3. Exercise their 4th Amendment rights and publicly post signage denying entrance to on-duty immigration agents who do not have signed judicial warrants as required by law, as well train staff on how to respond when immigration agents arrive at stores and worksites.
4. Publicly call for Congress to freeze funding for ICE.

priority Focus: Target

On January 8th, Customs and Border Protection agents attacked and detained two US citizens who were employees at the Richfield, MN Target. Minnesota sports teams play in stadiums and jerseys with Target’s logo on them. Target is headquartered in Minneapolis and is Minnesota’s fourth largest employer. They should be standing with the people of Minnesota and speaking out against ICE’s invasion of the state.

Demand Congress act now to rein in ICE

Demand Congress refuse to fund ICE and Border Patrol without serious reforms. Every Member of Congress should publicly oppose the DHS appropriations bill unless it:

• Strengthens restrictions on ICE and Border Patrol’s ability to conduct dragnet arrest operations and target people based on their race, language or accent, place of employment, or location at the time of the apprehension;
• Ends Border Patrol deployment to our cities and rejects its ever-expanding mandate in immigration enforcement; and
• Limits DHS’s reprogramming and transfer authority, including specifically preventing reprogramming and transferring funds for detention.

The current DHS funding bill does not meet these demands, and all Members of Congress should oppose it.
